In 1991 Moldova became an independent Republic with its capital at Chisinau, one of the greenest city to be considered with all over cities in Europe.
For the past 10 years the economical situation of Chisinau started to improve due to the large number of investment that came from European countries and USA as well.
Surrounded by many parks, the city is a quite and clean place for you to rest and enjoy as tourist by visiting many historical and entertainment places.
Before the independence Republic Moldova was a part of Soviet Union and before the WWII, when Russians took it was actually a part of Romanian land. So the native language is Romanian but having a large population of Russians and Ukrainians you will find many people speaking in Russian.
There are plenty of Chisinau Hotels that you can choose from the prices per room began 50 € in 3 star hotel as Bella Donna, National, Cosmos to 160 € in five star hotel as Club Royal Park, Diplomat Club.
A nice view on the Ştefan cel Mare Central Park you can see from the windows of the hotel Codru, a 4 star hotel, where you can book a room for 100 € and enjoy a great service, excellent traditional moldavian dishes and comfortable and spacious rooms.
Moldova is well best know for an excellent wine being ranked in seventh place in Europe by its quality and production and a great food industry based on healthy and organic products.
I defiantly recommend you to try traditional dishes like: placinte(cottage cheese and cabbage pies), sarmale(meat rolls), tochitura moldoveneasca, ciorba taraneasca(peasant’s soup) that will perfectly go with Chardonnay, Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, Pinot Noir chosen from famous wineries like Purcari, Milestii Mici, Cricova, Ialoveni,Cojusna.
You can find this variety of traditional dishes and drinks at: Orasul Vechi, Vinoteca, La Taifas, Casa Vinului and plenty other restaurants.
After a good sumptuous meal you can take a walk in central park and see the great statue of Stefan cel Mare and the Alley of classics,“Christ Birth” cathedral and Triumphal Arch which is situated in other great park across the street, or you can go to a play at Mihai Eminescu National Theater or at Opera and Ballet Theater.
The night life in Chisinau is pretty intense in pubs and night clubs like People, Military Pub, Déjà vu, Drive, Decadence Club were you will find very good music, entertaining Dj’s and barmen’s , plenty of interesting drinks and a lot of beautiful and glamorous girls.
